Lares Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 1 Cusco - Fondo Huaram - Cancha Cancha Villague - Accopata Camp

Today your Lares Valley Trek begins through the Lares Valley at 5 am, our team are going to your hotel to pick you up and travel for an hour to Huaran village, here we have our first delicious breakfast served by our chef, after that we meet your all support staff and horses. Time to get ready, backpacks on, boots on and starts our gradually ascending hike by 3 hours to Cancha Cancha Community, along the trail to this community we appreciate how change little by little the landscape next to the river. We have an energizing delicious lunch prepared by our staff.

Cancha Cancha is a traditional communities located at (3,900m/12,800ft), there is not a road there and the local government recently connected an electricity in December 2019, after to take a short break, we continue with our ascending trek for two hours more to Accopata hamlet where we will overnight in our tents. There life just two Alpaca breeding families and you will learn about their daily life and about the alpacas, an ancient ceremony, etc. after dinner your guide will show you the Andean Inca constellations and the meaning for those highlands people.

Day 2Accopata – Condor or Pacachateq Pass – Quishuarani – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

Today you will be woken at 5am, with our services of hot Andean drink with an spectaculars views of the Andes, after and delicious breakfast begging our second day by the Lares Valley or Lares Trek, it starts with a gradual ascending with incredible views towards Pachacutec or Condor Pass (4,680m / 15,350 ft), from here the views are breathtaking because you are above the clouds and peaks and in from us is the beautiful snow peak called Pitusiray (5.700m / 18,700 ft), here we will have a short rest to enjoy a hot tea served by our team. Afterwards of phenomenal pictures will continue with our hike for 15 more minutes before to start our descent. Our descend is for 3 hours by the Lares Valley to Campsite located in the village of Quishuarani at 3,700m / 12,130ft. along the way, we are going to see a local people herding alpacas and sheeps. Also, we will see spectacular views of Andean remote lagoons, a breathtaking waterfall descending of the mountains, Chinchilas, Cara cara falcon, Geese’s and if we are lucky will see on the sky a condor flying.

After to arrive to our lunch spot and take a short break we are going to interact with the local villagers in quechua. Our tour guide will be your translator to immerse in their culture. After enjoying our last meal prepared by our staff is time to say goodbye to our porters and chef, them we are travelling in our transportation for 2 hours to Ollantaytambo and finally the train to Aguas Calientes Town, where we spend the night in a hotel.

Day 3Visit to Machu Picchu – and back to Cusco

After to hike two days by the Lares Valley, Today is the big day, after an early breakfast provided by your hotel, we are going to the bus station to take one of the first buses up to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. Before to enter to explore Machu Picchu, our tour guide will provide you the entrance tickets and show the facilities to be use, remember inside doesn’t has toilets and the tour are in one way, also cannot re-enter to the Inca Site according the new regulations.

This Inca Site of Machu Picchu is extremely amazing and you’ll not want to miss. The Guide will do a full tour in two hours, you are going to see all of the most important of Machu Picchu, like the Sun Temple, Temple of the Condor, Temple of the three windows, sun dial, the Quarry, the house of the Inca Leader, also the Agricultural and Residencias areas.

After the tour, if you booked in advance an extra hike up to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu peak, your tour guide is showing you the main entrances to star this extra hike by your own, after to conquer the peak your will back and take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes town for lunch, remember this lunch is not include and take rest or go to explore the village until 40 minutes before depart your back way train to Ollantaytambo, your train will depart at 14:55 or 15:20.

The train follows the same rail of the day before, following the spectacular River, along the trip you will some small villages and archeological Incan sites like Wiñay Wayna, once you will arrive to Ollantaytambo, our driver will meet outside at main entrance to train station to take you back to your hotel of Cusco in our private transportation, approximately you will arrive to your hotel at 19:00pm.

  • Campin EquipmentWe use the best possible equipment for mountain activities for your comfort and safety. Tents of 4 people capacity but we use only for 2 people, as well as spacious dining tents.
  • Tour support team.We include staff that will make your trip unforgettable, such as the guide, cook, cook's assistant, porters and muleteers.

  • Single Room or single Tentif you require a single room or tent has an extra cost.
  • Gratuities for the team.Tipping is a common tradition on any kind of tour, the travelers tips to hand out to the muleteers, chefs and guides. Although we pay a good salary to all our team, always an extra is welcome for them.
  • Meals not mentioned.First Breakfast, last lunch and dinner are not included.
  • Trekking poles.Walking sticks with rubber tips are highly recommended to make easy your hike.
  • Sleeping BagIs necessary to bring a -15°C sleeping bag, for your confort.
  • Travel insurance: It is not mandatory, but it is recommended to protect yourself financially from any lost excursions.

Discount:

Travelers under 17 will have a $40 discount. Groups of 6 or more will have a $40 discount each. Please advise us when you are going to book to give you the discount.

Required Deposit:  To book, you need to make a pre payment of US$ 150.00 per person.

After the booking and deposit send us an extra message. Only with this we will be able to confirm your pre-payment and booking.

Balance: The remaining balance can be paid upon your arrival to Cusco with cash without tax before the tour, and we ask that this be paid at least 24 hours before your tour departure. If your are going to pay the balance with credit or debit car is a charges 5%, that have to be covered by the clients.

Huayna Picchu mountain:  This is the famous mountain behind the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. it takes 50 minutes up, and another 40 to back, you can climb this mountain once finished the guided tour of Machu Picchu. The entry to this mountain has an extra cost, and need to be book in advance.

Machu Picchu Mountain: This is the other mountain who surrounds the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, it is less popular than Huayna Picchu and takes 1.5 hour up.  Also requires an extra entry that cost .

Vistadome Train for Return: US $ 75 First class train with panoramic views, windows on roof, typical dance show and on-board service and best accommodation.
