During the journey on the river, if we are lucky, we may see wild animals on the shores such as the world’s largest rodent, the Capybara, the white caiman, macaw-colored and the shy jaguars that inhabit this area of the Tambopata.

In the afternoon after settling in, and lunch at the Lodge, we will have time to explore the jungle or relax. At night we will have a night guided walk to find spiders, snakes, and with luck, we will see nocturnal monkeys.

Day 2Visiting the Macaw clay lick on Tambopata Side

Today we will make an effort getting up very early, at 4 am we will head to the clay lick of Chuncho to appreciate the spectacular Macaws display of color at dawn, because hundreds of them, as well as parakeets and parrots, arrive at the clay lick to get their portion of land rich in minerals before begin their day. We will spend about 2 hours enjoying this amazing show and the incredible vegetation that surrounds us.

After that, we will return to the Lodge for breakfast and then we will board our boat back to the Port, and then travel again by boat for 1 hour to the Lodge Located on the Madre de Dios river. In the afternoon after lunch, we will depart to visit the Monkeys island and in the evening, we will set off to explore the river in search of the white Caiman if the weather allows.

Day 3 Sailing the Madre de Dios river & Exploring the Sandoval lake

Today we will travel by boat to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve and then walk for two hours (3KM) up to the majestic Sandoval Lake, with an impressive intact vegetation, which houses a flora and fauna, exceptional parrots flitting among the palm trees, howler monkeys that feed on the seeds near the water’s edge, river giant otters that lie between tree trunks, Charapa Turtles, alligators and many other birds.

Then we will return to our lodge by the same access trail for lunch. You will have a free afternoon to get some rest and in the evening after lunch, we will have a night walk in search of animals.
